Media extends beyond the industry. Video does not always need to function as a statement. It can also preserve living memory, where conclusions are not required and meaning grows out of presence and observation. The real responsibility is to work carefully with people’s trust, so that they can recognize themselves truthfully in what is made. Media includes many formats, and not all of them need complexity to matter.
