Theatre teaches you that a piece is held together by accuracy down to centimetres and seconds, and that this is where trust comes from, even when the audience cannot explain why. A well-made piece holds a tension between what is obvious and what reveals itself later, so people come back and realise there was more in it than they first noticed. As a producer, my task is to hold the intended standard and stay rigorous in judging the overall result.
